Langwedel is located in the northern Middle Weser region in the southeastern metropolitan area of Bremen. To the north is the Achim-Verden Geest, which belongs to the Stader Geest natural area. The 53rd northern parallel passes through the municipal area. Langwedel lies on the Weser and on the Alte Aller, an oxbow lake of the Aller. Overall, Langwedel thus comprises a largely closed settlement area along the northern bank of the Weser. This is part of a larger, closed settlement band that extends from Verden via Langwedel and Achim to Bremen.
There are connections to the towns of Völkersen, Verden, Daverden, Etelsen, Achim, Bremen, Holtebüttel, Fischerhude and Hagen by buses of the Bremen/Lower Saxony Transport Association (VBN). The A 27 federal highway runs past in a north-south direction. In 2011, the new junction 24a - Langwedel - of the A 27 was opened. The Hanover-Bremen railroad line connects Langwedel with neighboring towns. Shopping facilities and services such as doctors and post office as well as the train station are within walking distance.
