Unterbach - most people immediately think of the lake. In fact, with the incorporation of Unterbach in 1975, a district with considerable recreational qualities was added to Düsseldorf. After all, a fifth of the entire area consists of water. In addition, there are many forests, meadows and fields in Unterbach where you can go for long walks, which of course contributes enormously to the quality of life in this area to the south-east of the city. As well as swimming (there are two lidos), you can also go sailing, fishing, surfing or pedal boating on the lake in summer. And if you don't feel like going to a café, you can find a nice barbecue area. The comparatively small residential area of Unterbach above Rothenbergstraße is located on the slopes of the Bergisches Land. Unterbach also belonged there, or more precisely to Erkrath, before the municipal reorganization.
