The Schlipsheim Gecko House towers above the street and was probably built in 1949, as the date is engraved on the cellar floor. It was built with a partial basement, with a folding door in the hallway leading to the cellar. The first conversions and extensions took place in 1976, the first windows were replaced in the mid-1990s, followed by others in 2005 and finally the patio door was replaced last year. The house was completely remodeled again in 2006/2007. The partition walls were removed and spacious floor plans were created on the first floor. The ceiling to the upper floor was insulated and clad with plasterboard, and spotlights were installed. The daylight bathroom was redesigned and attractive fitted wardrobes were installed in the living room, hallway and bedroom. In the attic there are not only 3 rooms, a small door leads to a storage room, which can only be used as storage space due to the very small access. The utility room is very practical. This is where the gas central heating, washing machine and dryer have been located since 2014, and the landlord has also installed a small workbench. You can go outside from this room, where the garbage cans are located. The strip of land to Vogtstr. is narrow, there is space for a small car, as well as in front of the carport. As the house is very close to the northern plot and the western strip of land is narrow, there is more space for the garden than the size of the plot would suggest. The house and garden are lovingly maintained by the owners. You will see from the pictures where the house got its name.
There is a spacious carport for vehicles, to which a garden shed for tools and garden furniture is attached. An additional plus for the residents, as well as the raised beds for growing vegetables.
