Herne Wanne-South
The southern part of the city is located about five kilometers southwest of the center of Herne. Supply and housing standards are traditionally better here than in northern parts of Herne. The main street, which is considered a supply center, leads into the old city center, the Eickler Markt. Around a small pedestrian zone are grouped the administration of Hülsmann AG, a new quarter of terraced houses with interesting architecture and the former Bauerei, as well as some restaurants and pubs. Around the Volksgarten is Eickel's most popular residential area, but people also like to live further north around the Sportpark.
