Ehestorf is located south of the city of Hamburg, in Lower Saxony, and is excellently accessible via the A7 and A1 motorways and the connection to the Hamburg Transport Association (HVV). The locality, with its 1,280 inhabitants, belongs to the municipality of Rosengarten. Together with the neighboring localities around the Kiekeberg, Alvesen, Vahrendorf and Sottorf, Ehestorf has a primary school (grades 1–4), a kindergarten with nursery places, a Protestant church and a sports club with tennis club (around 1,000 members). Nearby, the museum village at the Kiekeberg and the Schwarze Berge Wildlife Park offer excursion destinations; otherwise, the hilly landscape with its numerous hiking trails provides a unique natural experience for walkers, cyclists and horse riders and has a rural character.
