The landmark of Elsterberg is the huge castle ruin, which is the largest of its kind in Saxony with a built-up area of 1.5 hectares. Thanks to its beautiful idyllic location, the town and its surroundings are a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. Well-marked hiking trails lead to the Kriebelstein (407 m) with its magnificent panoramic views, to the "Steinicht" nature reserve or even across the state border to Thuringia. The main hiking trail "Vogtland" runs for several kilometers through Elsterberg's meadows.
