The Y houses are a cultural monument of the city of Dessau-Roßlau. Built between 1969 and 1971, the striking 41-metre-high buildings owe their name to their Y-shaped floor plan. They are a testimony to a culture based on the plans of VEB Hochbauprojektierung and under the direction of architect Wulf Brandstädter. Only the Y houses in Dessau-Roßlau and Halle still exist.
