In 1997, one of the last mills in Weingarten was converted into a senior living complex. The result was 31 individual apartments, an operator's office, a cafeteria, various utility rooms and, of course, the original core piece - a roller mill with electric motor that originated from the flour mill after 1930.
A gas central heating system in the basement provides heat and hot water. In addition to the staircase, an elevator system connects all floors of the two-and-a-half-story solid building. In keeping with the style, double-glazed wooden sash windows were installed. Otherwise, alongside the implementation of the renovation measures described above, another goal was to carry as much of the old charm as possible into the future.
The Walzbach initially runs right through the property and then forms the southern boundary of the plot. Behind the building, parking spaces are available free of charge to all residents and visitors in sufficient numbers. A private wooden bridge leads to the separated part of the property, which feels like an island and, with its design, is fully available to residents.
In short: A rarity was turned into an idyll.
