Bottrop
The smallest major city in the Ruhr region is also one of the greenest! It borders the industrial areas in the south and the Hohe Mark Nature Park in the more rural north. Formerly dominated by mining, Bottrop has been burgeoning in the service and manufacturing sectors for about 10 years. Particularly noteworthy is the Warner Brothers Movie-Park in the district of Feldhausen, which has been attracting countless visitors since 1996. Those interested in culture are familiar with the Bottrop Museum Center "Quadrat" with its department for prehistory and early history, Josef Albers Museum and Modern Gallery.
