Bremerhaven-Mitte is located at the mouth of the Weser River. The central district borders on the district of Lehe (Bremerhaven) to the north, and on the Geeste River to the south and east. The district is divided into the districts Mitte-Nord and Mitte-Süd. Old Bremerhaven residents say that when they go to Mitte, they go "to Bremerhaven". Many regular buses pass through the "citizens" and connect Mitte with all other districts and suburbs. By car, the district can be reached via the Bundesstraße 212 and the Bundesautobahn A 27 (Bremerhaven Zentrum junctions). Worth seeing are the German Maritime Museum, the Emigration House, the Climate House, the submarine Wilhelm Bauer and the Zoo by the Sea.
