The history of the castle:
During the Thirty Years’ War, the castle was temporarily the headquarters of the Swedish General Johann Baner, whose soldiers besieged Pirna. Later, Lieutenant Colonel Johann Siegesmund von Liebenau purchased Zehista Castle and had it extensively and representatively renovated. In the following years, Prime Minister Heinrich von Brühl came into possession of the estate. He carried out extensive alterations to the castle and founded the castle church, which later fell victim to the effects of the war. After the end of the war, the castle was converted into apartments. Today, the castle has two wings. On the western side of the main wing is a massive tower that transitions from a square to an octagonal shape. It is covered by a domed roof with an observation platform on top.
Several outbuildings are located around the castle, as well as the beautiful castle park with its pond complex.
