From the Ilse dynasty to the “Bellheim” address
Built in 1938 by a member of the Ilse family, the villa still embodies the spirit of that entrepreneurial dynasty, which shaped Uslar like few others. At the height of their success, Ilse-Werke was considered Europe’s largest manufacturer of small furniture and made the small town known far beyond the region—“Uslar, City of Ilse Furniture” was more than a slogan, it was identity.

After the decline of the furniture empire, the house passed into private ownership. In 1991/92, it received a major role: Dieter Wedel chose the villa as the residence of his department-store patriarch Peter Bellheim—played by Mario Adorf—in the TV miniseries “Der große Bellheim.” The production invested heavily in furnishings and visual impact. ZDF first broadcast the miniseries in 1993; total costs amounted to around 17 million Deutsche Marks. Ever since, the property has been known in the region as the “Bellheim Villa”—a house with a cinematic history and a shining reputation.

From villa to seminar hotel—the Wilkening era
At the end of the 1990s, the next chapter of the “Bellheim Villa” began: Under Dr. Anne M. Wilkening, the historic residence was skillfully transformed into a seminar and conference hotel. Since then, classic elegance has met an exceptionally natural setting: seminar rooms, guest rooms and open spaces blend into one another, while work and time out follow a quiet rhythm set by the park on the edge of the Solling.
