Blankenburg is located in the Berlin glacial valley on the Barnim ridge. Neighboring communities are Buchholz, Heinersdorf, Karow. A part of the district belongs to the Berlin-Brandenburg-Barnim Nature Park.

The well-preserved village green together with the church and the surrounding single-family houses characterizes Blankenburg as a suburban settlement. Numerous buildings around Alt-Blankenburg-Straße are individually or as a group of buildings under heritage protection. Of particular interest for the district is the building of the Albert Schweitzer Foundation nursing home. At 84 hectares, the former Blankenburg manor is one of the largest contiguous gardens in Germany and reflects the character of Blankenburg. In 2005 it was converted into a recreational facility. Tenants and owners are members of the Friends of the Blankenberg Mill Gardens and Settlers Association, founded in 1991. In the northeast of the district lies the Blankenburg cemetery, in front of which is a memorial forest for the victims of war and tyranny according to the Berlin cemetery law.
From 1982 to 2001 there was a dog museum at Alt-Blankenburg 33. It was founded by a married couple in the district and systematically built up over several years. In 1992 the site was included in the Guinness Book of Records.
At the southeastern edge of the district was the branch of the Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Technology (HTW), which moved to the Oberschöneweide campus in 2009. The predecessor institution at the site was the Berlin-Wartenberg Technical University. The building, vacant for years, was demolished in 2016. In the east lies the Golf Resort Berlin Pankow, one of the three Berlin golf courses.
In May 2007, the Berlin Water Works put a retention soil filter into operation on Heinersdorfer Straße. It cleans the wastewater from the 560,000 m² roads Karower Damm and Blankenburger Plasterweg and directs the cleaned rainwater into the Panke.
We build your house exclusively with branded materials and equip it only with branded products. "Turnkey means for you, that you have the freedom to carry out the painting and wallpapering work, as well as the floor covering work, yourself. (good for financing as a substitute for equity capital).
The windows are branded products, the front door is multi-locked with a surrounding safety steel frame in the casing. From the shower and bathtub to the high-quality fittings, as well as the extensive electrical equipment, everything is already included. Tiling in the bathroom and kitchen is also included.
