Rüttenscheid
The large and attractive district of Rüttenscheid lies approximately two kilometres south of the city centre, and offers not just vibrant life on the ‘RÜ’, the place to see and be seen, with its restaurants and bars, but also green portions such as the Grugapark or its proximity to the popular southern districts of Essen with the Kruppwald woods and the Baldeneysee. Rüttenscheid has its own very appealing market, where on Saturdays people gather to browse, savour and chat. The underground takes you to the main rail station and city centre in just a few minutes, and buses provide links to other districts of the city.
