More financing calculators and assumptionsThis exceptional apartment over 2 floors represents the last opportunity to call a residential unit your own in the highest-quality renovated half-timbered house on the local North Sea coast.
An old fishermen’s tavern dating from 1674 was rescued from certain decay through years of meticulous handcraft and converted into the top property in Otterndorf and the surrounding area.
The entire half-timbered house was gutted, structurally stabilised with a new ground slab and insulated against the ground, then rebuilt in lime and clay using historic oak beams and firebricks from an antique dismantling project. Inside, an insulated timber interior wall perfectly rounds off the transition between the most modern residential standards and historic reconstruction. The absolute high-end feature of this house is the new thatched roof, complemented by matching Danish wooden-pane windows. Naturally, everything was coordinated with the local heritage conservation authority.
This apartment includes a garden/land share with an integrated parking space directly in front of the door, comprising approximately 193 sqm.
The purchase price refers to a fully renovated apartment.
In this North Sea idyll, an old fishermen’s tavern has stood for almost 350 years and has truly seen and survived a great deal. It is one of the last witnesses to northern tradition and history. When the Seemannskate had to close years ago, no lover of old buildings could be found for a long time; now we have proved that it is possible to combine heritage and the present day. A total of 3 exceptional residential units were created in this unique 1674 building. The residential unit offered here over 2 floors is the last and at the same time the most impressive of all these Schleusen apartments. The garden of the private plot faces the sun, with half-timbering and thatch, along with top-quality windows, solid wood floors, underfloor heating, historic stylistic elements and thick beams. You can still influence the fixtures and living style; for example, a guest WC, sauna (only in the large apartment), and much more can optionally be implemented.
All details are approximate, as the sqm may still change due to construction in an existing building.

The insider tip: With just under 10,000 inhabitants, the small town of Otterndorf impresses with its historic town center and an extremely diverse infrastructure. Otterndorf has its own harbor/marina, a hospital, a train station, a swimming pool and sauna complex and, of course, lots and lots of charm and even more water. Among enthusiasts, Otterndorf is therefore valued and highly regarded as the small but considerably prettier sister of Cuxhaven. This is also due to its many tourist leisure activities and varied culinary selection.
From this unique location directly behind the dyke, just a few steps bring you the view countless tourists seek on the northern coast: the North Sea. Moody and delicate, tough and inviting, but always: a natural experience with magical appeal.
