May I introduce myself?
I am not an off-the-shelf house – and I am charmingly keeping my exact year of birth to myself. What is certain, however, is that a former barn was converted into living space around 1946. Since then, I have experienced a great deal and preserved my very own character.
With approximately 180 m² of living space, I offer plenty of room for people who want to live generously and realise their own ideas. My home extends over the ground and upper floors. Above that, an as-yet undeveloped attic is waiting to perhaps be awakened from its Sleeping Beauty slumber one day. Part of me also has a cellar constructed in traditional rubble-stone masonry.
In my rooms, a solid past meets homely comfort. Original floorboards, exposed wooden beams and classic wooden doors tell stories of earlier times. They are complemented by laminate, carpet, PVC and tiles. Two bathrooms – one with a bathtub and the other with a shower – ensure that not everyone gets in each other’s way at the same time in the morning.
I am heated primarily by electric night-storage heaters; newer direct and instantaneous heaters provide partial support. Although my tiled stove looks exceptionally cosy, it first requires a suitable heating insert for crackling evenings by the fire. Hot water is supplied decentrally via instantaneous water heaters and under-sink units. My aluminium windows are double-glazed, and the electrical wiring is predominantly three-core.
Above me stretches a gabled roof with two different characteristics: One half of the house has artificial slate, while the other has an older genuine slate covering. An outbuilding or shed also belongs to me – practical for gardening equipment, a workbench and all the things one “will definitely get rid of someday”.
I am particularly proud of my approximately 988 m² plot. There is plenty of open space here for gardening, playing, relaxing or redesigning. A terrace and a sheltered balcony invite you to enjoy cosy hours. Three unpaved parking spaces are available for vehicles.
I openly admit: I would benefit from modernisation Good then. Those looking for a turnkey, high-gloss house may not immediately be happy with me. However, those who appreciate charm, substance, generous space and genuine design possibilities may find exactly the right project in me.
