Seckbach is only about 5 kilometers northeast of Frankfurt city center. Picturesque half-timbered houses characterize the historic townscape, and the historic old town has the best-preserved half-timbered ensemble in Frankfurt.
Amid the old village structure, it is clear that Seckbach was first mentioned in records as early as 880 as “Villa Seckibah” (seepage water).
The infrastructure is very good, with various subway lines (U4, U7), tram and bus lines, as well as the nearby A 661 motorway.
The name Seckbach is rightly associated with green local recreation and a village atmosphere: the Frankfurt Green Belt runs through the district with Huthpark, the beginning of the Quellenwanderweg and Lohrpark. Lohrberg – Frankfurt’s local mountain at 185 meters – offers an impressive view of the skyline; on its slope, wine has been cultivated at the municipal winery since Roman times. The Mühlbach also rises at Lohrberg and flows into the Seckbacher Ried, a protected wetland in a silted-up branch of the Main and also part of the Green Belt.
