Colonie Alsen refers to the summer villa colony founded in 1863 by banker Wilhelm Conrad on the northern shore of Kleiner Wannsee and the western shore of Großer Wannsee. Set in a park, the magnificent villas represented a unique cultural landscape during the period of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic; several of them have survived to this day and are listed as historic monuments.
